Learn how to get the most out of Corral.
Getting Started
Download the macOS DMG from the official release page or get Corral from Microsoft Store on Windows, then launch it. Open Corral from the menu bar on macOS or the system tray on Windows, then complete the permissions and settings shown on first launch.
Keyboard Shortcuts
Use keyboard shortcuts or drag windows to arrange them. Open settings to view and customize shortcuts for all 11 presets, window actions, undo/redo, snapshots, and swap. Shortcuts are organized by category: Presets, Window State & Placement, History, Swap, and Snapshots.
Window Presets
Use 11 grid presets for halves, thirds, and quarters, plus center and maximize. Each option has its own shortcut. With the 12×12 grid, create one custom layout on Free or unlimited custom layouts on Pro.
Undo / Redo
Every window position change is recorded automatically. Press the undo shortcut to step back, redo to step forward. You can exclude specific apps from history tracking (e.g., Finder) for manual drag movements. Free plan: 2 per window. Pro: unlimited.
Sticky Resize
When enabled, resizing a tiled window automatically adjusts its neighbors to stay aligned. Detects shared edges within 2–6px tolerance. Choose how shared edges are shown — a center marker or bars on both edges — and turn on a split-ratio ruler on high-DPI monitors. Options include corner (diagonal) resize and a modifier-hold lock so it only acts while you hold a chosen key. All options live under Preferences → Sticky Resize.
Layout Snapshots
Save eligible windows from your current arrangement in a snapshot slot. When you restore, Corral finds available monitors and windows and restores the items it can, then reports the overall result. Free includes 1 layout snapshot; Pro includes unlimited snapshots.
Custom Layouts
Design one window zone for each custom layout on a 12×12 grid with 0.1-unit snap precision. Drag to create or resize the zone. Free includes 1 custom layout; Pro includes unlimited layouts.
Window Swap
Swap the positions of two visible windows instantly with a single shortcut. No dragging needed.
Smart Fullscreen (Windows)
On Windows, Corral replaces the default title bar maximize behavior. Double-clicking the title bar enters Corral fullscreen — you can still move and rearrange windows freely. Supports administrator mode for managing elevated windows like Task Manager.
Window Drag Display (Windows)
On Windows, control whether the system shows full window contents while you drag or resize a window. Corral recommends keeping this on so the native wireframe outline never overlaps Corral's snap and resize overlays. The toggle changes a system-wide Windows setting and lives in Preferences; it stays disabled on macOS.
Cloud Sync
Sign in to sync general settings, keyboard shortcuts, custom layouts, Window Snap triggers, layout snapshots for the current operating system, related snapshot settings, the names of apps you exclude from manual-drag history, your custom window preset entries, preset match rules you dismiss, and suggested preset match rules across your devices. Supports automatic and manual sync with conflict resolution.
Status Overlay
Corral shows a native status overlay on both macOS and Windows during snap and restore actions, so you always know what is happening. The overlay never takes focus away from the window you are working in.
Preset Exclusion
Some apps (games, fullscreen apps, background utilities) should not be rearranged. Corral lets you edit preset exclusions in Preferences on top of a system base list. Toggle exclusion per app or temporarily disable presets with a shortcut.
