Swap two windows

Exchange the positions and sizes of two visible windows on the current monitor.

Prepare two windows on the same monitor

Place the normal windows you want to swap, such as a browser and notes, on the same monitor. A completely covered window is not a visible candidate.

Check or assign the window-swap shortcut in Window Management → Window Arrangement. An excluded active app causes the operation to be skipped, so check app exclusions too.

Run the swap

  1. Click one of the two windows.
  2. Press the assigned swap shortcut.
  3. Check that their positions and sizes have exchanged.

For example, swapping a large browser on the left with a small notes window on the right puts notes in the browser’s former area and the browser in the notes window’s former area.

When more than two windows are visible

Corral selects the active window and the next candidate in its collected visible-window order on that monitor, wrapping to the first candidate at the end. It does not permanently remember two windows you picked earlier.

For a predictable first attempt, leave only the desired two windows visible. If no active window is found, Corral uses the monitor containing the mouse pointer to find candidates.

If nothing happens or a different window is selected

Fewer than two visible candidates leaves nothing to swap. Check whether a window is fully covered, whether you are on the correct monitor, and whether the active app is excluded.

Swap does not forcibly exit fullscreen. Try normal windows first. If your goal is a fixed arrangement to restore later, use a Layout Snapshot.
